Irish Wood Turning. When we started Clover Woodcraft, we never realise how much we would learn and appreciate working as a family to complete our beautiful products. Our small Irish business is growing, and we are enjoying working on the lathe and passing the tradition onto the next generation.
We are passionate about using Irish grown timbers, to uncover the beauty behind the bark.
We make our products from storm fallen or damage trees. All our products are processed in or workshop,on the borders of Co Kildare, Carlow and Laois. We are lucky to have the space to allow use to store large tree trunks, before processing them into wooden blanks for wood turning or planking them for bread boards. We prefer to let our timbers to dry naturally which can take over 2 years in some cases depending on the time of year the tree was felled.Above we have a varied selection of Irish grown sustainable sourced timber. We also try where possible to replace what has been been removed and regular plant trees in our own garden.
We are able to provide traceability on our wood turned products as we generally process the timber from tree to finished products.
Working with Native wood.We have worked with native Irish Hardwood including Ash, Oak, Horse Chestnut, Sweet Chestnut, Beech, Hawthorn and been luck enough to have use Bog Oak in some of our designs. We have also used Pines, Alder, popular and Irish grown Cypress. We love working with natural sourced materials and have incorporated deer antler into some of our designs. Over the years we have enjoyed making Wooden Bowls, Platters, Mirrors, Clocks, serving Boards, Tapas Boards, Mugs, Tankards, Salad server's, Lamps and Candle holders.
